URGENT SUMMER OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH ENGLISH IN THAILAND – Update April 30, 2015

Do you know a university student that might be up to the challenge of traveling to the other side of the world, spending the Summer of 2015 joining God in an extraordinary experience of using teaching English to build bridges to some of the least reached people groups in the world, but all in the context of a country that offers great freedom for sharing the gospel and among some of the most gracious and gentle people in the world? Let me explain why this Summer 2015 is so urgent and critical.

Many of you know that my family is planning on going to the USA this Summer (June - August) to help our son Joshua adjust to life in the USA before starting his university studies. Joshua just turned 18 years old yesterday and has lived in Thailand since he was almost 2 years old. Due to some family illness, the folks on our team that were going to help cover some of our responsibilities had to urgently return to the US several weeks ago and will not be coming back which has created a great vacuum especially for our language school.

Would you join us in praying that God will raise up some university students from the USA who could come out the end of May and serve here until about the end of August.

We see this as an excellent opportunity to join God in what He is already doing here in Chiang Rai. Here is a picture of one of my English classes that I teach at GLS. This is my level 5 class that I teach every Tuesday and Thursday nights.

We have 5 in the class but one was out sick the day the picture was taken. Ball, Piano, and Nok are university students and Nuey 1 and Nuey2 are high school students. This is an incredible opportunity for qualified university students who are Christian and who want to serve the Lord as a volunteer teaching English this Summer 2015 with Grace Language School and serving alongside our church called Baan Athitaan Church.

God is Raising Up Thai Missionaries – Update April 03, 2015

One of the great joys that God has graciously allowed me to experience on a regular basis is the joy of seeing 1st generation believers grow in their relationship with God and become true fishers of men and mentors for others. Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”

As I write this update, I am sitting at home thinking about this morning and the reason for our short trip to Mae Sai this morning… at the beginning of Good Friday. This morning we got started a little earlier than normal and I met all of our church staff along with a church member named Oil at the church at about 8:00 so we could all be a part of sending out our first “Thai missionary” from our church.

We picked Pon up from his house this morning and drove another 40 minutes North to the border city of Mae Sai where we met one of Pon’s friends from Burma who he is going to work with over the next week. We walked together with him up to the border, gathered around he and his friends, and prayed for him one last time before watching them cross the border into Burma. May God bless, protect, and use this young man for God’s purposes.

Here is a video clip from this past Sunday of our commissioning service for Pon. Please take a moment and watch the video and please remember to pray for Pon as He is now in Myanmar serving the Lord.

God is doing some amazing things among these unreached people groups and we are so blessed to be a part of equipping them and helping them to serve God and reach out as His light to this part of God’s world.
