Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Northern Thailand – Update December 28, 2024

Dear Family, Friends, Partners in Ministry,

We hope that you all have had a lovely Christmas. It has been a great time for us here in Northern Thailand. We have had the chance to do some major outreaches both through teaching English as well as our own major Christmas outreach as well as helping others in their outreach into their community. We were so grateful to have 2 partner churches from the great state of Mississippi here with us during the Christmas season and literally thousands of people from many, many, many different unreached people groups have heard the greatest message we could ever tell. Not only have we told the story but we have also invited all of them to “COME LET US ADORE HIM… CHRIST THE LORD.”

We wanted to end this Christmas season and the end of the new year on a high note. Sometime when we look around us we see a world that broken and falling apart. We see and feel the tension between people who are having trouble in their relationships with others and we tend to forget that even in the midst of difficult circumstances around us, we have a God that is always at work drawing people to Himself and reaching down into families all around the world and bringing salvation to all who will put their trust in Jesus.

Just last Sunday, we were able to see the evidence of God doing that very thing of drawing people to himself as we baptized 3 more young people from 3 very different people groups. One person was from the “Wa” people group. More information on the Wa people group can be found at: https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/15759 Another was from the Lisu people group. More information on the Lisu people group can be found at: https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/13076/TH

And another was from the “Akha” people group. More information on the Akha people group can be found at: https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/10223

Here are a few pictures from the baptism last Sunday on December 22, 2024.

My mind has been reflecting on the first baptism God allowed us to be a part of in Thailand some 23 or 24 years ago. This picture is the picture of the first baptism that took place in the name of Baan Athitaan Church when one of my first English students in Chiangrai - Kru Peat - became the first person in her entire family to become a follower of Jesus. She is from the 3rd largest unreached people group in Thailand called the “Khon Mueang.” What a joy it was to baptize people and Nong Mint along with our oldest son Joshua on that day at the Maegok river during our early days in Chiangrai when I still had brown as my hair color. God has been good to us and we have tried to be faithful to Him and do all that He has wanted us to do for His glory.

What a great honor God has given us to be a part of celebrating new life found in Christ on a regular basis in Northern Thailand where God is truly transforming lives. This January 13, 2025 will be our anniversary for 26 years of serving our Lord in this part of God’s world.

Thank you for partnering with us and sending us to Thailand for the advancement of His Kingdom among some of the least reached people in God’s world today. May all glory be to our Lord Jesus who is worthy of all of our devotion.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Your Servants to the Nations in and around Northern Thailand for Jesus sake,

Michael for the team

"...Behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11
