As I write this update I am reflecting on the
amazing God we serve and how often we simply overlook God at work around us.
One of the truths that has stuck in my heart for almost 20 years is the truth
that God is always at work around us. I first really learned of this truth when
I went through a study of Experiencing God written by Henry Blackaby. It is an
awesome study of how to learn to walk with God and to see Him at work around
you.
Let me tell you what happened early this afternoon
on this side of the pond. But in order for you to see what I see, I need to share
this brief contextual note. As we have been sharing with you over the past 14
days of our devotionals, God is at work in this part of God’s world among some
of the least reached people groups in the entire world. We have seen God at
work reaching his hand down and touching the hearts of hundreds of university
students from dozens and dozens of different unreached people groups. Not only
that, the past two days you have been praying specifically for the Lu Mien
unreached people group.
Well,
today, God chose to answer your prayers in a very visable way. Here is a
portion of the prayer I asked you to pray two day ago: “Lord, thank you for
loving us enough to send someone into our lives to tell us about the gospel. We
thank you for loving Phet enough to send someone into her life to tell her
about the gospel. We thank you for loving others enough to send people like Phet
into the lives of others to tell them about the gospel.”
Well,
right after lunch, I was sitting at the stone table in front of my office at
the church giving some counsel and encouragement to one of our Chinese church
members and not paying too much attention to some of the university students
that were coming into the office. Then Phet, whom you prayed for specifically
the last two days who was the first person in her entire family to become a
Christian from this Lu Mien unreached people group, walked over to tell me something
you are not going to believe. She said that a Freshman student named Nok from
the Lu Mien walked in the office saying that she wants to study the Bible.
This university student heard that Phet taught the
Bible to students and wanted to know if she would teach her too. Get this: Nok
is not a Christian (at least not yet) and does not have anyone in her family
that is a believer but God has already been working in her heart. She had a
friend in high school that was a Christian and witnessed to her often but she
was not ready then. She was not ready today either to give her heart to Jesus,
but let me say this very clearly based on my experiences like this…. It will
not be long now before we will see this young lady give her heart to Jesus and
become a part of God’s family of believers. When she does, she will join the
hundreds of people like Phet and like Ja who are the first persons in their
entire families to have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Please remember to pray for this young lady by
name. Her nickname is Nok. Please pray that God will continue drawing Nok to
Himself and that God would bless the Bible study time that Phet will be having
with Nok beginning very soon. Above is a picture of today as Phet was sharing the
message of Jesus with Nok.
Prayer Example:
“Lord, we come before your throne of grace, thanking you for answering our
prayers on behalf of the Lu Mien unreached peoples. Thank you for allowing us
to see just a glimpse of what you are doing among these unreached peoples of
Northern Thailand and how you are allowing those connected to NTIM to truly reach
some of the least reached peoples in Your world. Today we want to specifically ask
You to draw this university student named Nok to Yourself. Help her to
understand Your great love and the payment for sin that Jesus made for her on
the cross. Help her heart to be tender and to be willing to embrace the truth
of the gospel in the days ahead. Please use Phet and the rest of the people
connected with NTIM in a special way to reach these university students who are
searching for You. We pray this in Jesus name and for His glory. Amen.”
